Synopsis
Kim Kilpatrick and her guide dog Ginger journey through a palliative care unit, listening to the stories they find there. Told through hand-painted oil animation and incorporating built-in audio description, Behind Every Door is an intimate exploration of listening, connection, and the profound significance stories.
The film was created in collaboration with the Isenburg Lab and Bruyère Health, drawing on stories collected on the Bruyère palliative care unit. Through this collaboration, Island of Listeners and the Isenberg Lab seek to explore the profound role of the arts in healthcare while creating space for underrepresented stories and perspectives on death and dying.
